The Boarding Pass
John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.”
We don’t like the idea of black and white anymore. These days, it’s much more convenient to believe in shades of grey. After all, all that black and white, right and wrong stuff … that’s so old hat.
Have you ever tried to get on a plane without a boarding pass, or cross a border without a passport? You don’t have to be Einstein to figure out that it just isn’t going to work.
So why is it that we think that we can talk to God without Jesus? Now, maybe you think I’m being arrogant – surely all roads lead to Rome. Surely it doesn’t matter what you believe, as long as you believe it sincerely. Surely if you live a good life, you’re going to heaven.
But you don’t get onto a plane without a boarding pass. And you don’t cross a border without a passport.
Jesus put it like this:
John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.
Whether you want to hear this or not, let me make it plain. Unless you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for you so that your sins could be forgiven, and that He rose again so that you could have a new life, an eternal life, in His very Presence … unless you believe those things with all your heart – indeed with your very life – you will not enter the gates of heaven. That’s it.
But the good news, the fantastic news, is that if you do, you are completely forgiven, you have a completely new life, you can be completely certain that when your body gives up the ghost, you will spend eternity with God – for ever and ever and ever, amen!
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
