The law of the jungle is very simple. The people who are good to you, be good back to them. The people who are bad to you, be bad back to them. It’s just the way things are. Enter, Jesus.

I’m going to ask you to do something for me today that’s completely and totally irrational, radical, and outrageous.

Picture for me, if you will, the one person in your life right now who’s loved you, served you, blessed you and cared for you more than anyone else on the planet.

Now picture the one person who’s causing you more grief and pain than words can ever describe. It’s quite a roller coaster, isn’t it?

Now – and here comes the crazy bit – I want you to plan to do something today for both of those people; something that’ll bless their socks off. I mean proactively, deliberately, lovingly reach out and touch them in a tangible, unmistakable way that says, “I care for you, I appreciate you, and I love you.”

It’s easy to love the person who’s loved you. Anyone can do that. But that person who’s caused you pain and grief – now that’s much harder.

But so often that grief and pain comes from someone who desperately needs our love and support. I know … that’s outrageous. That’s a stupid idea. Who came up with that?

Luke 6:27,28 But I say to you people who are listening to me, love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. Ask God to bless the people who ask for bad things to happen to you. Pray for the people who are mean to you.

So figure out a way to bless that one person who has caused you more hurt and pain than you can put into words … for Christ’s sake. That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
