Mission Impossible

Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (NRSV)

Sometimes it can feel as though all this spiritual stuff, God stuff, Jesus stuff sits neatly over here in one box, but life with all its chaos and carry on is out of control out there somewhere. That’s how it may seem, but that’s not how it is.

All too often we’re confronted by the impossible. For some it’s crippling debt, for others hunger or homelessness, or fear or a marriage on the brink or … whatever it may be.

It seems sometimes that life is one big … mission impossible.

In fact, if I asked you, “Right now in your life, what is your mission impossible?” I’m sure you’d have an answer. So there’s something I’d like to share with you, something that I believe God wants to speak into your “mission impossible” today … listen carefully, drink it in, because it is the very Word of God:

Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. (NRSV)

That very thing that seems impossible to us is more than possible for God.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

So – here’s some homework. I want you to decide for yourself whether that’s true or not. And there’s only one way to find out. Take your mission impossible to God, ask Him to help and see what happens.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
