Launceston City Community Christmas 2022
December 25, 2022 @ 12:00 am
The IGA Launceston City Community Christmas is a city-wide Christmas lunch for anyone in our community looking for some community spirit and support on Christmas day.
The event is hosted by Launceston City Mission, The Launceston Benevolent Society, St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania, CatholicCare and The Salvation Army Launceston, and offers families and individuals the opportunity to connect, provide mutual encouragement and build community during a very special time of the year.
And this year we have an exciting new venue at the Door of Hope Centre whilst the Albert Hall is under renovation: Door of Hope, Exhibition Centre, 50 Glen Dhu Street, South Launceston.
2022 will represent the seventh year for the IGA Launceston Community Christmas Luncheon. The Launceston Community Christmas luncheon has become a symbol for our Launceston community to demonstrate our love and concern for others at Christmas.
There will be a wide variety of entertainment including Matthew Garwood who will MC and provide some Christmas songs, live music from several other groups, and activities for the children attending which includes a wonderful visit from Santa!
For 2022, the organizing committee has, once again, a delicious Christmas buffet planned for everyone, thanks to our major sponsor IGA providing all the food required for this meal. This year we will also distribute between 50-100 take away Christmas lunch packs to those living in the homeless camps throughout the city for those who would like one, thus ensuring that no one goes without a good meal on Christmas day.
Those in our community that would like to attend, or volunteer are welcome to register through the event website at www.launcestoncommunitychristmas.com.au or contact one of the agencies involved.
